Description
Holders for Harbor Freight's Pittsburgh Metric and SAE (Imperial) Metric Long Ball Hex Socket Sets.
These are based on @ICEngineering's model for the Husky 7-pc Metric Long Ball Hex Socket Set.
I rebuilt the basic design in OpenSCAD and modeled the dimensions and font choice on @MottN's wonderful “Parameterized Labeled Socket Organizers for Multicolor Printing” so they would match the rest of the holders I am building. The numbers are embossed by 0.4mm (so 2 layers at a 0.2mm layer hight). You can simply color them with a marker, or change filaments so they print in a different color.
It uses the gridfinity-rebuilt-utility.scad file from the gridfinity-rebuilt-openscad project for the base. If you customize the .scad file, you may need to update the path to that file in the include statement on the first line of the files. You should be able to customize the bases (for 42mm, or to add magnets, or what have you) but I have not really tested that…I'm just using a friction fit.
These measure 4*42 tall by 3*42 wide (4x3 Gridfinity), but use 21mm bases instead of the standard 42mm. The 21mm are fully compatible with 42mm, but give you more flexibility for arrangement, especially if you're like me and making a bunch of other socket holders that fit nice and compactly into 21mm-based holders.
I printed these in Elegoo Rapid PETG with 0.2mm layer height, with a manual layer change for the last two layers, on my Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro.
