Description
11/14/2024: For those of you who are interested in the scale of this model, I did not have a specific scale in mind when designing this but with a 341mm model and based on an 8.8m X-37, this results in a 3.9% scale model. (1:25.8)
Just like the smaller version, the front section has the black tiles but I did not try to separate the nose cap. You could color this section grey and color the nose cap in the slicer as black. I split the aft section into two parts, white and black (or grey), To make the back a single white color I edited the model to have a separate solid white back plate. I also added two black circles to be inserted into the back plate as separate pieces instead of requiring a dual filament.
As before, the port wing has the US Air Force symbol on it. Those colors are red, white and black. The starboard wing has “USAF” in black. The payload can be easily removed.
For my models, I used a 0.4mm nozzle and I use PLA as the base filament but I use PETG for the support interface since they do do adhere to each other. This seems to generally make the support easy to remove cleanly.
Note: The slicer recommended the payload bay doors be printed vertically. This may be stronger but I printed them on their edges. This took 2 hours versus 6 hours.
All files are saved in STEP format.
I added a picture showing the three models so you can get a good feeling of their relative sizes.
