Hand Sculpture Headphone Stand

This is my attempt at a “simple” headphone stand. I've always thought hands were a natural subject for a headphone stand but haven't seen any where the hand isn't holding the headband like this design (I wanted a smooth, curved surface for the headband to rest on to avoid uneven wear to the headband padding). I tried to emulate the style of marble sculptures from the renaissance.

The dish on the base is designed to hold a loosely looped cable. Alternatively, you could loop the cable through the hand if you preferred (between the thumb and fingers), but you would need to thread it through since it's a closed circle and not an open hook.

The stand was designed to printed on a larger printer with >300mm z-height (an Elegoo Neptune 3 Plus, in my case) since I didn't want any seams in the middle and it's just over 12 inches tall when assembled. However, it might be able to be scaled down if you have a smaller printer as long as your headphones aren't too large and/or don't have wires coming directly out of the bottom of the cups. Just make sure to uniformly scale both the top and bottom pieces the same since there are divots for the fingers to sit on the underside of the top piece and scaling one without the other would mess up the alignment.

As for printing settings, it doesn't need supports as long as you have decent part cooling and aren't printing super hot. I did the base 0.16mm layer height, with 2 walls with an alternating extra wall, and 6% line style infill with Cura. I would also advise having enough bottom layers so that you don't have to have any infill before the bottom of the dish is printed. The top arch was printed on the edge, as it's orientated in the STL (this is important), 0.2mm layer height, 3 walls, 7% line infill, and concentric top/bottom pattern.

For assembly, I used 5 dabs of gel super glue to attach the top to the hand, one for each finger. I found it easiest to put the glue on the top arch in the divots and a have the glue facing up with the arch laying on the table and then line up the pinky and thumb with their divots taking extra time line it up first try so I didn't smear the glue and then carefully rotate the hand down until the other fingers meet their dabs of glue and hold it firmly upside down like this for 30 seconds before turning it over carefully. It's probably a good idea to wait 24 hours to let the glue cure before using.
