Description
My Main tools are Dewalt for which I am deep into the battery platform.
Note: There are 2 versions of the Ferrex platform. examine the pictures to check if this matches.
As a diyer, I can't justify buying all professional tools: some are used infrequently, others (like glue guns) are unavailable on the dewalt platform. to eliminate the need for a second battery platform I built this system of easily made adaptors to permantly adapt parside (Lidl) and ferrex (Aldi) 18/20V tools to use the dewalt batterys. I've not designed the adaptors to be readily interechangeable - to do so would require more work on the connection to the host tool.
requirements:
18/20v dewalt battery and suitable host tool (parkside/ferrex 20v).
blade terminals - male and female
10k resistor for parkside devices.
short length of wire.
solder & necessary equipment.
M3 screws - 14-18mm & screw inserts
Assembly:
Per pictures, build a wiring harness with conectors. The Parkside needs a 10k resistor to the negative terminal.
Using heat/soldering iron, add brass screw inserts to the host tool side adaptor.
bend, and insert the blade side adaptors for the dewalt side first. ensure connections are not touching; hot-glue resess to ensure no movement of the connectors.
attach the host tool side adapter to the tool. attach the female spade connectors to the appropriate terminals. ensure a tight connection to the host tool blade. hotglue may again be used to secure the wiring side to the adaptor.
route wires carefully, and screw the dewalt side onto the host tool adapter. the 2 screws closet to the terminals should protude outside the host tool adapter, pressing againist the tool body, thus securing the adapter firmly to the tool. (to remove, unscrew).
