Description
The base (consisting of the stand, rod, and locking ring) is my original design, and meant to work with “lampshades” resized for 85mm mounting rings. The following models are used as lampshades in the photos and video above:
I printed the enclosure components in Prusament Black and Red PETG and Makeshaper White PETG with a 0.4mm nozzle.
Stand: No supports needed, but use a 0.2mm layer height and manage your seams to ensure they're not printed over open air.
Pushrod: The rod should slide smoothly in its channel. If it doesn't, use a utility knife to shave some material off the corners.
Locking Ring: Add a filament change to combine light-blocking lower layers and reflective top layers. Consider ironing the top layer (I didn't do this in the print pictured above).
Ensure the little circle on the locking ring is opposite the USB port.
To disassemble the enclosure, insert a spudger or screwdriver into the USB port and push up against the locking ring (avoid pushing on the LED disk itself).
I've uploaded the original Fusion360 parametric model so you can use it, modify it, etc.
