Description

The original statuary is from the ‘Scan the World’ project, see the remix info below for details. The plane cuts and model orientation were designed to minimize filament usage so that each model prints with close to 1 spool of filament and around 24 hours print time (more or less). I'm using an OPXL5H. Although printing the bust face up shows the layer lines, my attempts at printing the busts upright used a bunch more filament, extended the print times a great deal and resulted in more support failure issues. YMMV. After I printed Medusa I decided to change my workflow and goals to reduce filament usage and make smaller models.

Print settings I used

  1. Polymaker Rock PETG for outdoor UV resistance
  2. ObXidian .6 nozzle
  3. Prusa Slicer
    1. Infill of 8%, adaptive cubic
    2. Layer .32 structural
    3. 3 perimeters
    4. Support from bed only
    5.  Layer settings change at beginning of facial skin area (usually 50mm to 100mm) to reset fill to 15% and layer height to .20. This improved the facial quality for face up models.
    6. For the Drunken Satyr and Dionysus I needed to simplify the model to reduce triangle count/file size to upload successfully to Printables.
