Description
Building a home cockpit, there are many small buttons to engrave. If they are for Korry like buttons and the legend is made in two halves, they need to be held and engraved one by one.
Tape and CA glue works well, but is time consuming. So, unable to find a better solution, I designed this. The spring clamps hold the button legends firmly and accurately against the corner guide, while being very fast to swap from button legend to button legend.
The corner guide is best cut from 3mm acrylic and left in place on the CNC spoil board, so it accurately aligns with the X and Y movement of the CNC head. This can be held with the masking tape and CA glue method. However, there are holes and 3D printed locating pins to align it after it has been removed (requires the locating holes to be cut to a depth of 6mm (3mm through the acrylic and 3mm into the spoil board).
Locating pins and all of the clamp parts are best printed in PETG, 100% infill for strength.
Clamps are made of several parts to eliminate support. They are easily assembled with CA glue and the springs (7mm diameter, 20mm length).
Clamps are a snug fit in locating holes positioned on corner guide. Both Left and Right models are included for X and Y clamp.
