Lifeguard Hut [no supports!]

June 30, 2024
Description
This model is dedicated to those who stand in the darkness, afraid to step into the light. I'm making it available for the few people who might be interested, and because I'm proud of my accomplishment.
Background
The contest theme was “Summer and Childhood”. I'm not a summer person, and I can't wait for it to be over, but my mind returned to the more innocent era of the mid-90s.
I wasn't content with going for something lazy or simple, so I pushed myself to create a model that could be printed without support material. It took an evening to design the first version, and then a couple of refinements to get it right.
Features
- All the parts should fit onto a 235x235 print bed, at the provided size.
- It is possible to print without support material, especially if your part cooling is on point.
- The roof fits onto the base by way of small pins.
- The ramp is connected to the base by a “living hinge”: you should be able to bend it to have it touch the ground.
- I've left the stilts as a separate part which you can glue to the base, or attach with double-sided tape.
If you decide to print this, let me know how it goes.
