Description
The shades of my garden lamps turned from white to yellow in the last years. So I decided to replace them. For stability reasons, this is not a vase mode print but made to result in 3 walls for 0,4mm nozzles.
If you got a Multi-Material printer, you can print the “combined” STL files together as one with silver and white filament and the ring will function as support for the lamp shade.
If you only got a single extruder machine, better use the “solo” STL, because it is designed to print well without support.
In the pictures you can see a replacement shade with a ring printed out of silver PLA in vase mode, as well as one where I managed to pry off and reuse the original metal ring.
If you happen to need something similar but not exactly same-sized, be my guest and tinker this model to your needs :-)
Use ABS or PETG for outdoor objects. PLA will become brittle pretty fast and might even melt on hot days or with hot lights.
Use a wide brim, at least 10mm, more is better.
I printed in 0.20mm layers. Started in the evening and it was done when I woke up. :-)
