Description

These models were extracted from an MRI I had when I was younger (Age 13) that could be useful to teach human anatomy. I thought it was quite an interesting project to extract the 3D models from the MRI data. Not all of the models in this set are 3D printable via FDM, but I think a significant portion should be given you support it properly.

I previously extracted models from more recent CT scans I had on hand, so I decided to give it a shot on this older MRI as well after requesting a copy from the hospital. You can see the difference between a more normal gallbladder in this set and the distended one in this model set. It should be kept in mind that as I've grown since this scan was taken, the size difference may not be entirely due to distension. In addition, this MRI also focuses on my colon due to my Crohn's Disease (this scan was from shortly after my symptoms just started and before I started treatment). It should be noted that the colon is inflamed as a result, but it was not my worst flare up. I started Modulen IBD (exclusive enteral nutrition) shortly after this scan.

All models are 1:1 scale, directly extracted from the scan.

The models were made using a software called 3D Slicer with the aid of an add-in called Total Segmentator which extracted the 3D model data from the MRI data fed to it in DICOM format. All models were smoothed and cleaned up to remove any small islands.
