HGX Lite and HGX 2.0 Single Drive Gear Mod

I wanted to improve the extrusion consistency of the HGX Lite and HGX 2.0 oblique tooth extruders by converting them to single drive gear.

Unfortunately i didn't have done comparable before and after prints, but the quality with single drive is better in opinion. Please share your experience in the comments.

BOM:

• 1x bearing 623ZZ, 3x10x4 mm, e.g. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001707861454.html
• 1x aluminum Bushing/Gasket D18xd10.2, H4, https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006029400618.html
• 3D printed spacer in ABS or ASA for heat resistance

Instruction

• disassemble the extruder until you got the spring loaded lever freed
• push the pin that holds the extruder gear in the lever
  • it might be hard to get the pin out. On one HGX 2 it was loose, on another HGX 2 i needed a drill press to force it out
• replace the gear with the aluminum bushing with the bearing inside and the printed spacer (sand the spacer on the rough side a little bit before that)
• assemble the extruder
• optional: fix the pin with a tiny drop of super glue on one end
