This is a low-profile wall mount for shop towels. It fits Scott brand, Toolbox brand, and any other brand with a diameter of 112mm (4 7/16 inches) and smaller.
Features:
Instructions:
Print the parts with a layer height of 0.2mm or smaller. I highly recommend using a brim for the pins. To make the brim easy to remove, you can separate it from the parts by 0.2mm.
The left and right side pieces are labelled. Connect the hinged parts of the left side piece and left back piece and slide the pin through the top. (The two pins are the same.) Make sure the pin top is aligned properly.
Repeat with the right side pieces.
The pin will require some force to slide in. You can use a hard surface to push against it. If aligned properly, the top of the pin will sit flush with the top of the hinge. If you need to remove the pin, use a small tool to push it from the bottom up. Refer to the pictures for more info.
If you're having trouble getting the pin to slide in, try sanding it or print again with a negative XY Compensation / Horizontal Expansion number.
The hinge is designed to stay in place when folded in. It's normal to feel a little resistance when folding.
Mount to the wall with four #6 countersunk screws. (Approx 3.6 mm in diameter.)
For standard shop towel rolls of 11" length, the screw centers should be placed 10 1/8 inches apart. (25.7 centimeters.)
Optional: I have included a screw template, to make it easier to mark where the screws should go. There are two versions: a whole template for big printers and a template split into two parts for small printers, like the Prusa Mini +. The template also makes it easier to level the holes. For the split template, tape it together. You can discard it after measuring.
I don't recommend mounting this with poster tape or Command strips. But if enough people request it, I'll make a version with a larger surface area on the back for a stronger tape-bond.
To place a roll of towels, pull slightly on one of the mount sides and insert the roll.
This will not fit American-brand white paper towels. I am working on a version for those.
If you'd like me to make a paper towel mount for other parts of the world, please comment with your country's standard roll diameter.
