Description

This trap protects your salads from unwanted guests like slugs and snails. It can be adjusted in order to spare snails and only let slugs trough. Its optional “EmergencyRamp” makes that insects or little frogs who fell in accidentally, can climb out safely (The slugs dont get this somehow). This trap is more attractive to slugs than your salads, because the cup is filled with beer. The slugs love this, climb in, get drunk and drown. works every time. If you want to modify this, youll find the .step too

How to print:
Print all parts in the given orientation with the parameters you desire. Because of the threaded parts, id recommend 0.2mm layerhight though. Scale to your needs.
The trap shown in the pictures are scaled to 75% (only smal slugs here) The common size slug demands 100% (or even larger)
Note: In order to save some filament, use this with some old mason jar or similar instead of the 3D printed cup. Just scale all parts untill they fit nicely on top of the jar.

How to use:
Put the bucket and the ring togehter by twisting. Put the Cap on top and adjust the hight to your liking.

The caps primary function is to protect the trap against rain. If you want to spare snails and only get slugs, you can turn it down until only the slugs can pass the slit. Use the snail house hight of the common snail in your area as reference, because its house will block its entrance. (see picture below)

If you want to lock the cap in place, use the optional Nut part and tighten it on the Caps thread. Place some of these traps in a pattern around your plants, top them up with beer and enjoy.

From time to time you have to discard your “harvest”. Best be done as organic waste or on the compost pile.
