If you find this model useful, feel free to buy me a coffee.
I was tired of buying and then losing or breaking cat wand toys. So I decided to make my own.
This wand telescopes from 6 ¾" to 24 ½". (17cm to 62cm.) To complete it, you'll need a small string and a cat toy. I also recommend adding a fishing swivel to each end of the string. That helps feather toys spin without tangling.
The bottom of the handle has a threaded cap, so you can remove the inner pieces to sand, etc. I had to sand the seam lines on mine because they stuck out a bit. If you sand too much, the pieces may slip out of each other. You can fix this with a small band of scotch tape or masking tape at the base of the cylinder that's slipping out. You can also play around with XY Compensation to get the fit just right. (It's called Horizontal Expansion in non-Prusa slicers.)
The cap should screw fairly easily on the threads after a few turns back and forth. If it doesn't, see above regarding XY Compensation.
I added a subtle cat pattern on the handle and a cat face on the bottom of the cap, based on royalty-free clip art.
Let me know what other features you want me to add. A twist lock that prevents the wand from coming out? A fishing pole reel? I'd love to hear your ideas.
