Description

As the summary says, this is a simplified miniature of a blast furnace. I designed it for a city model in which I collaborated.

More specifically, the model is based on the “Alto Horno Núm. 1” in Sestao, Bizkaia located in Spain at the following coordinates:

43°18'41.8"N 3°00'01.7"W

In the last image of the post you can see the actual structure.

The model is approximately 1:1000 scale. These are its most relevant dimensions:

As is obvious, it is a very simplified model due to the complexity of the real structure and the scale at which I was trying to model it.

Print settings

Printed in PLA, without rafts, with manual supports, at 0.2 mm resolution and 15% infill.

To facilitate printing, you can activate the “Make Overhang Printable” option in Cura and set it to about 70.0°.

In addition, you can also use the “Custom Supports Cylinder” plugin to add manual supports instead of using Cura's automatic ones. You can place them in strategic locations such as suspended walkways.

With these settings your sliced model should look something like this:

Post-Printing

Once the model ins printed just remove the supports. It can be a bit tricky, so I recomend an small pointy object, like a screw driver, to remove the more intricate ones.
