Description
This mod and the associated printfiles will give a quick explaination on how and why to install Stepper Dampers to Neptune 4 Series Printers. Included Printfiles are to offset the y Limit switch on Neptune 4 and 4pro - otherwise the bed will collide with the Y-stepper. As a result the Buildvolume in Y-direction will shrink from 225 to 220mm! Printer.cfg needs to be adjusted to avoid crashing into the physical limits of the bed.
Steppers running by default in Spreadcycle mode which, depending on speed, will generate severe vibrations which in return create quite alot of noise. The dampers use vulcanised rubber isolators which will decouple the steppers almost completly from the rest of the machine. The Machine becomes incredibly silent that way. The Rubber is stiff and thick enough to not cause any artefacts - as far as im aware. I ran some testing and couldnt find any difference with/without the damper attached.
Hardware required:
2x Nema17 Stepper Dampers("improved version" on Ali)
2x M3-6mm cylinderhead screws
2x M3 Heat insert(optional but recommended)
X-Axis for N4/4pro/plus/max:
1) Remove Belt case(3screws)
2) loosen grubscrew for the Belt Pulley, and also loosen belt tension
3) remove all 4 screws for the X Stepper
4) use 2 of the Stepper screws to mount the Damper to the Stepper
5) use other 2 screw to mount the assembly back to the frame
6) install pulley back and adjust tension
Y-Limit Switch for N4/4pro:
1)remove 2 screws from its Case
2) remove the Case and the Plastic spacer
3) use 2x M3x6mm Cylinder head Screws to mount limit switch to printed spacer
4) place the assembly inside the printed case
5) reinstall that package with orignal screws back to machine
!! see attached images for Pulley allignement - essentially slide it in as much as you physically can while still beeing able to tighten the grubscrews
Y-Axis Stepper for N4/4pro:
follow steps 2) to 6) of xAxis
Y-Axis for plus/max is currently unclear if it can be installed and how to install it there! Until i have a clear definitve answer i call it beeing unsupported on Plus and max for y-Axis

TBStron Y Linear Rails owners
This mod is partitially incompatible. The Rail Bracket will cause the switch to be non functional. This can be worked around by shimming the Limit switch bracket underneath with Paper. Required are roughly 0.5mm. Additionally the switch housing will be hit the y Bed Carriage. You would need to shim the bed carriage with metal M5 shims(under the silicon spacers or dont used the switch housing.
Better approach. Dont use the printed parts. Stick to the stock Limit Switch housing and bracket. The TBStron Kit has screw holes in the Attachment Brackets. If you add a M3x10/12 Screw with loctite you can tune the necessary offset into the stock switch Housing. i added a drop of superglue in the end for extra savety measures :)
