The front display panel on this dishwasher is very thin, the normal act of pulling on the dishwasher handle can flex the display enough to break it. It will still function, unless the actual digital readout is broken, but the wide display panel breaks. A replacement display is $125 at the time I'm uploading this, just for the part. This printable part avoids that expense by securing the thin display to the thicker handle behind it.
Print tips:
- Use PETG or other strong and flexible filament with good layer adhesion.
- Print it vertically for greater strength in its final destination.
- Don't rush the print. It could cause weaker layer adhesion.
- Use a brim so it doesn't come loose.
- No fill, only walls.
Installation instructions:
- Clean the broken display and dishwasher handle area thoroughly with glass cleaner or other degreaser that won't harm the plastic.
- Test fit the printed part. The shorter wall goes in the front, and the taller wall goes in the back for strength.
- If it fits snugly, glue everything together. I used Gorilla impact-resistant superglue to glue the broken display panel back together, and E6000 glue to hold the handle in place. I chose E6000 because of its flexibility. I used a couple drops of superglue in the corners to help secure it in place initially
- Use masking tape to clamp it in place overnight.
