TLR 22x4 Elite ProTek fan mount

This fan mount for the Protek RC PTK-2112 fan (or equivalent) and TLR 22x4 Elite 4WD buggy makes two key improvements over the stock setup. First, it moves the fan back in the chassis for much improved airflow, as the fan is no longer choked off. Secondly, since the piece is TPU and moves the mounting point onto the center brace, the fan is ‘floating’ in a flexible suspension and vibration transmission into the chassis is almost eliminated. Consequently, the noise is dramatically reduced. UPDATE: The latest version (v6) has an extra gusset near the mounting point to slightly increase stiffness, and the fan mounting posts have a slight taper to make installing a new fan in-situ a bit easier.

The fan mount fits inside as shown, and the holes are tapped for M3 screws. It is a little difficult to tap, due to it being so flexible, so similar sized self-tapping screws might be a better choice. Then a slightly longer-than-stock M3 pan head screw and washer is used to attach the mount to the TLR 22x4 center brace.

The material I chose is Hatchbox black TPU 95A shore hardness, and it can print directly on the build plate as shown with no supports.
