Description
I bought a SOHAMO H3 brand E-bike and decided it needed a cupholder/storage area.
Note before you read further! You will need M4 hardware and (recommended) 1-2mm double-faced foam tape to complete assembly.
I noticed the stock version of this model e-bike has welded front M5 bosses right in front of the handlebars for an optional front basket, an ideal place to attach as the M5 bolts are there already.
For extra stability, this design uses M4 hardware to squeeze the main frame rail. Here, I added double-faced tape between the rail and cupholder to negate any noise issues while riding. (2) M4 x 10 bolts with standard M4 nuts were used.
The smaller cupholder on the rider's left fits a standard 66mm dia. 12oz aluminum can, while the right is larger at 77mm. I made it larger to accommodate a larger drink container, without a specific size in mind.
**Update 19AUG24-- Added a version for a Stanley mug for the left cupholder. Fully tested, the mug stays in the cupholder quite nicely even over moderate bumps. Sooooo you can have your drinky-drink wth ice!
For the right side, I designed a simple TPU cup and cover (yellow color) to hold my keys so they wouldn't rattle. The cup lid is also TPU for a snug fit.
I've tested this item thoroughly for no noise while riding, and decided the cupholder material was OK using PLA plus, or PLA professional. You could make the cup out of PLA or similar material but I recommend keeping the cap TPU for a better fit.
I noticed at final fitting there were a few gaps at the M5 front boss attachment areas, those were filled with simple M5 flat washers.
I think the bike will still fold itself with the cupholder but I have not attempted (I don't use the fold function).
For any design additions/changes/modifications, I will be happy to accommodate just let me know.
