Description
I had some difficulty with fishing the line (I used TPU) through the snowman and out the head so I put together this little tool that makes it so much easier. It only takes 15 or 20 minutes to print and I feel is very worthwhile. I intend to provide these with the snowmen so body parts can easily be swapped out later without frustrating the user.
The hooked end is to pull the TPU, wire or string through the snowman's body. The flat end fits into the slotted tensioning screws.
After you have the tensioning bar attached loosely to the screws.
1. Put the TPU in the hook and pull it through the middle portion.
2. Make sure the TPU is in the slot and feed the tool through the slot in the head. Do not pull real hard, the tool can only guide the string it is not strong enough to have a lot of stress.
3. Put the TPU on the head.
4. Tighten the tensioning screws.
I found these parameters provided enough strength:
0.2mm layer height
Wall loops:3
Top and bottom shells: 3
Infill 50%
If you find the tolerance between the tool thickness and the slot in the head is too tight you can make the tool 0.25mm or so thinner.
