line throw weight shells

6/2/2021 update: Added version with 2 of the 1 oz. bullet sinkers for times when more weight is needed to overcome friction from fishing line passing across leaves etc.

This is a shell for a 1 oz. lead sinkers to be used with a fishing rod to throw across tree limbs for pulling back a cord which can be used to pull up a wire antenna. I generally print two copies in different colors, then mix colors during assembly for better visibility.

I made this so it could pass through twigs and leaves more easily, be readily visible and less likely to allow wrap-around on branches during retrieval.

There are two versions, one for ball sinkers and one for football shaped "bullet" sinkers.

The individual halves are marked 1 & 2 to help assembly when mixing colors. A complete shell includes both 1 & 2 marked parts.

Print in TPU if you want to avoid the possibility of a shell shattering from hitting a tree limb or trunk. 99% infill in TPU will add some weight as well.

The halves can be glued or welded together with a hot tool. Holes are there to allow use of 1.75mm filament as rivets. A heavy gauge wire is used for attachment to the lead weight. Make a loop at the protruding end for attaching the fishing line
