Description
I completely redesigned the supports to make the tube hold the load and not the zip straps.
This project is a two-piece tubular holder for a cane or umbrella. It is fastened to the side of a NEXUS 4-wheel walker/rollator. The tube has form-fitting supports to match the contours of the tubing on the NEXUS frame. The bottom of the tube has a slight taper towards a hole to allow water to drain if used in the rain. I printed this on its side to fit it across the corners of a Creality K1 Max. Support will be required depending on the orientation. I also used four walls and a 0.8-layer depth. I have included .step files if you want to change the dimensions for a different walker or cane. I use a Shillelagh walking stick made of Irish Blackthorn with a shiny urethane finish. To prevent the tube from damaging the Shillelagh, I designed an “anti-scratch” ring and printed it in TPU for its rubbery softness. The ring could be glued on with super glue, but it is a snug fit and seems to stay on well as it is. I printed the main tube in PETG-CF to ensure the strength and durability of the carbon fibre. As designed, four channels in the supports provide a path for four zip straps to fasten it to the walker. If you view the main tube in the X-ray mode in the 3D view, you will see them clearly. Yes, I use a walker.
