Description

A fragmentary faience model depicting an upper portion of a scribal palette has been discovered, featuring several significant figures from ancient Egyptian mythology and royalty.

On one side of the scene is Thoth, the revered god associated with wisdom and writing, shown wearing his divine kilt while holding both an ankh symbolizing eternal life and a was-sceptre representing power. In contrast, on the opposite side lies (presumably) Payeftjawemawyaset, the owner of this palette model, grasping another scribal instrument in their hand.

At the center is a depiction of a king adorned with a nemes-cloth wrapped around his head and wearing an elaborate New Kingdom style kilt accompanied by a flared apron. Above him are some hieroglyphs that appear somewhat unclear but can be deciphered as "the Good God, Djehutiemhat, given life".

Djehutiemhat was indeed a local ruler at Hermopolis in ancient Egypt and is documented on three other historical records. Notably, this model scribal palette stands out as the sole attested representation of Djehutiemhat to date.
