Description

Brackets to mount two 120x120x15mm fans underneath the bed on a Voron Trident without any height/travel loss.

Its designed to fit "Arctic P12 Slim" fans. Other fans might work but they need a 9mm slot in the fan to fit.

BOM:

  • 2x Arctic P12 Slim fans 120x15mm
  • 6x M3 Heat set inserts
  • 6x M3x16 SHCS
  • 6x M3x8 SHCS
  • 6x M3 T-nuts

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Lay out the fans how they will be fitted to the printer. The fans should be blowing air towards the bed so the “rear” side should be facing upwards.
  2. At the red arrow. Cut away some material on the rib on the fan. This allows you to route the cable in a better way behind the assembly bracket so it can exit the fan towards the rear of the printer.
  3. Heat press the M3 inserts into the fans. For the innermost corner, they have to be on the top side. But where you assemble the other two corner brakets it doesn't matter since you will pre-install those before you mount the fans. Don't insert them all the way as the inserts are longer than the fan thickness.
  4. Assemble the brackets to the fans according to the picture with M3x16 SHCS screw

  5. Assemble the T-nut and the M3x8 screw to the brackets on the fan
  6.  Mount the two inner corner pieces to the frame using M3x8 SHCS screw's and T-nuts

  7. Assemble the fans to the underside of the printer bed. First attach the last M3x16 SHCS bolts and then the remaining T-nuts brackets.
  8. Done!

You also need to figure out wiring and macro to control the fans. I crimped two quick connects to the fans and then used a Y-splice to run cables to the MCU.

For controlling the fans I use Ellis bedfan macro. I had to adjust the speeds to not get errors from Klipper. During heatup I use 20%. Once I hit my bed temperature target I raise it to 30%. I reach 62 degrees Celsius in my Trident 250mm without any insulation(chamber Thermistor at tool head height on rear extrusion).

Ellis bedfan macro.
