Description
Every year, we hold a Beer Olympics where we play various drinking games and give out trophies at the end. The Olympics were coming up this year and I didn't have much time, so I designed and printed this idea over the course of a day.
The base fits over the top of a soda (or beer) can. My model is slightly changed from the original design so it has a flat bottom to print easier. I actually couldn't get my slicer to open the original model so this was the easiest thing to change. Make sure your printer is well-calibrated because the fit needs to be perfect to stay on a can.
Since I had to use Sketchup to modify the base, I also used it to generate the numbers.I made three separate models for 1, 2, and 3, but printed them all at once.
I printed the bases in black (with the hole facing up) and the numbers in gold. I print in ABS so I used acetone to melt the plastic to attach them.
This color combination matches my favorite beer and I took home 3rd place this year.
These are a great display piece, but they aren't very useful besides that. I have the idea to modify them so you can still drink the beer while the topper is in place, but right now I'm not sure how I would do that.
