Description
My first multi-platform (Fusion 360 & OnShape) parametric design - A box with hinged lid and snap closure
The latch uses a small tongue in the box base that mates with a matching notch in the lid, this provides a nice audible snap when closed but not too difficult to open with the provided grip ridges. Cross section view:
The hinge pins are short segments raw filament, push a piece of filament about 20mm long into the hole and melt to flatten the end. The hinge action should provide a small amount of resistance, just enough to hold the lid open.
Fusion 360 Design: WYSIWYG Parameters for box size, just open in design mode and double click on the dimensions to modify. There are more parameters you can modify in the PARAMETERS dialog (Shift-P) - CAD Design Link: https://a360.co/4dlBqmP
Once you adjust parameters you can export as 3mf or stl using the Save as Mesh popup menu item on the top item in the browser:
OnShape Design: Use the Variable Table (click on bottom icon on the right edge to open)
Once you adjust the parameters to make a custom box, export a 3mf, stl or step by right clicking the Box Design tab at the bottom of the window.
In the export dialog, choose your format (3mf, stl and step all work inthe slicers), choose download and click export:
