Chum Cage

The Chum Cage is designed to hold chum bait for both anglers and crayfish trappers alike.

With an internal volume of approximately 3.5 liters, this cage provides ample space for all types of chum bait, whether it's fish waste, dog food, or other popular options.

The cage features a diameter of 150mm and a height of 200mm, but it can easily be scaled down directly in your slicer, with successful testing at sizes as small as 50%.

The cage's screw-on cap is designed with a custom, oversized thread optimized for 3D printing. This design ensures a secure and durable seal while being easy to use. Thanks to its dual-start thread, only 1.5 turns are needed to fully open or close the cap, making bait replacement quick and hassle-free.

Three sturdy Ø8mm eyelets are placed around the cage, providing multiple attachment points for a carabiner or paracord. This allows the cage to be easily hung from a boat, pier, or securely submerged within a crayfish trap.

Printing Instructions:

The design is optimized for FDM printing.

I’m using a Prusa MK4 printer with Prusa PETG filament. PLA is not recommended, as the cage is designed for extended submersion.

Recommended Settings:

• Filament: Prusa PETG
• Nozzle Temp: 240°C
• Bed Temp: 90°C
• Nozzle: 0.4 mm
• Layer Height: 0.20 mm (Quality)
• Infill: 15% Grid
• Support: No support (Ignore the warning on the lid part)
• Brim: No brim
