Cooling Fan Mod for Toshiba Portege R830

Old laptop but still valuable for office or programming. It suffers since the beginning from overheating due to a poor design of the cooling system.

But actually, it can be improved greatly by raising the fan height.

Indeed, 25-30% of the fan duct is blowing on the edge and under the motherboard. Design flaw ! (the design is already not cooling efficient from the start…)

With the parts in this design, you will raise the fan by 5mm so that almost 100% of the fan duct will blow on the cpu and heatsink.

Results: in my case I've reduced by 5°C the temperature of the cpu.

In addition, I encourrage you to change the thermal paste and clean the fan and heatsink.

To print the part, I recommend using TPU.

You will also need 2x M2.5x8 screws.
