Use ironing for a smooth surface.

The hinge tube may need to be scraped a bit so that it doesn't pop out.
Install the hinge by placing it on top and then using the back of your scraper to push the center in first. Then the sides til they pop in.

Flex the hinge multiple times until it loosens.
