Description
I recently acquired an Underwood Model M standard typewriter, but the return arm had lost the little hook that makes it functional. I tried modeling/printing a "hook tip" that would slide onto the broken metal arm that was left remaining, but there was not much clearance between the underside of the arm and the body of the typewriter, so I decided to try to model the whole arm. The original arm has some kind of leaf spring that is on the inside of the hooked part that engages with the line spacing mechanism, but it didn't seem to be doing much of anything, so I left that part out, and just modeled the hook to engage the line spacer. I printed this in PLA with basic optimal settings, and it works well.
