Collective base

I will write more defined instructions later. From pictures you can find explosion view, which helps you quite a lot. There is also a step file for whole assembly.

 

This base is originally designed to be assembled with this AH-64 collective grip. 

All screws used in build are M6, and print is designed to be used with S-lok - type inserts.

• For installing sensor and MCU use small 2 mm wood screws.
  
  
  Sensor used in the build is manufactured by guy called GVL224.
• Rotation of axis is 40 degrees, so ask for +-20 degree configuration.
• See additional information how to install the sensor from GVL's website.

Deep groove ball bearing is 6005-2NSE9C3

• Width 12 mm
• Outer diameter 47 mm
• Inner diameter 25 mm

MCU to create USB device and read all the inputs is STM32F103C8T6 “Blue pill”

• Software to configure Blue pill is Freejoy
• You need usb programmer to configure your STM32. The headline link has bundle with said programmer.

Dampener used is motorcycle steering damper

• Not necessary, but I highly recommend installing one. For me it did improve the feel very much.
• You can select some other dampener too, but I recommend picking one with adjustable dampening.
• Check your dampener when received. If there is a lot of play (=air) in the system, I recommend you to send it back and ask for refund.

You can adjust friction of collective with dampener adjustment and with screw, which is pushing friction block against to the swivel part. This M6 adjustment screw needs to be screwed from bottom of the base, and there is hole ready for it and for thread insert too. Note, that the thread insert must be installed into bottom plate, not to the friction block.

• It is a good idea to sand friction surfaces to be as smooth as possible, and if possible, print parts so that the layers are aligned when assembled.
• I added some dampening grease to the friction surfaces.
