Description

The Stream Station is a flashy 3D printable and portable housing configured to hold a monitor, power bank, speakers, video/audio receiver, and LED strip (with controller), which can receive (via WiFi) video and audio up to 800ft from source. In general, this system can be utilized with an external electronic device having an HDMI output (e.g., streaming devices, computers, DVD players, gaming devices, etc.). Provided here is the housing STLs along with blueprints to create a portable & wireless system that can be used in a wide-range of applications.

PRINTER REQUIREMENT: FDM printer able to accommodate pieces roughly 290mmx268mmx190mm in size is required. Ender 3 S1 Plus was used for the prototype.

FEATURES:

  • 14 printed pieces total, using about 2kg of filament (I used PLA)
  • All pieces are no-support designed. Prototype was successfully printed without supports.
  • Hollow tubing sized to allow for LED strip & clean cable training
  • Housing has two viewing positions: (1) upright and (2) reclined (46 degree tilt).

SYSTEM SPECS (when using items linked below):

Total weight: ~9.5 lbs. System 

Battery Life: ~10 hrs (LEDs off) OR ~5 hours (LEDs on)

HARDWARE: Hardware (i.e., nuts and bolts) should be M6 or 1/4" dia. The attached drawing PDF indicates all bolt depths and hole sizes, for reference. I used 1/4"-20 TPI hex bolts from the local hardware store. A full list of hardware will be provided soon, for convenience.

Each piece is no-support designed and do not require supports to print via FDM printer.

Substantial infill is recommended (35% min), as the system is heavy (weighing in just under 10lbs)

Use an infill pattern that optimizes strength in all directions. I used cubic infill pattern for all parts.

How I Designed This

Top-Down Modeling

Top-down modeling techniques were employed to create the housing design, based on the particular items linked in this post. The design process spanned many weeks (I was not diligent) utilizing professional CAD software and took more hours than I care to recall.
