Description
The Necchi 559 is a great sewing machine that can be bought used for very cheap. It is extremely easy to maintain and service a exhibits a good stitch picture.
Almost all of the mechanical parts are made out of metal making the machine quite robust. Only the two gears connecting the stitch selection dial to the mechanism on the inside are made out of a plastic that in most machines has shrunk over time leading them to crack and sometimes even break.
Since there is not a lot of mechanical stress on those gears, printing them from PLA or PET(G) will suffice.
After printing, push out the metal bearing from the old gears and also keep the two grub screws for each gear. Carefully push the bearing into the newly printed gears and watch out for the correct orientation of the screw holes.
After that, install the new gears.
