Here is a multicolor 3d printing technique using one extruder without an AMS on an Ender-3 printer using PrusaSlicer. I'm including the 3mf file along with the STEP and GCODE file as well.

Although this is done automatically by having an AMS system, you'd need to create three virtual extruders on your Ender-3 and select Single Extruder Multi material under Printers in the General tab.

Layer height is 0.2 mm

Skirt 1 loop

No Brim

Color Extruder 1 as green, Extruder 2 as orange and Extruder 3 as white.

On each extruder indicate 1 on Lift height in the Travel Lift section.

Under Print Settings, go to Multiple Extruders and enable Wipe Tower.
