Description
We don't have a mantle to hang Christmas stockings on, but we do have a BESTÅ entertainment center in our living room. So, I made these hooks and used color changes to give them a holiday look.
They ended up being so handy that I printed off a bunch more to use around the house. It' nice to be able to print one off in ~20 minutes using a filament that's actually a reasonable color/finish match for wherever I'm hanging them.
The hooks print on their side, which orients them for maximum strength. I used PLA, which is extremely sturdy in this orientation and use case. The pictured hooks are at 0.2mm layer height with 3 perimeters and 6 bottom layers, But if you don't mind more visible layer lines I've printed them at 0.3mm layer height and draft speed with no issues.
The Hook_Candy_Cane.3MF file demonstrates how they sit on the print bed and has 10 color changes to create a candy stripe effect. It's set up for an MMU2S (because that's what I have), but you can certainly do the changes manually or use any other multi-material setup.
