Description

Introduction

The Peggit system is a simple way to attach holders and organizers to your pegboard using simple automotive rivets.  The clip easily attaches to standard pegboard with 1" spacing using 15mm x 12mm x 6mm automotive push rivets.  Holders can be easily removed from the clip by pressing the two arms on the bottom of the clip, making it easy to move your holders around.

You will need a Peggit Clip for attaching this holder.  View the whole Peggit Collection.

Printing

For a single holder, you will need to print the main body, two endcaps and one clip.  You can use any filament you want, PLA will be just fine for this.  I just used standard 0.2mm settings, you don't need to go crazy.  There are some very easy bridges in the internal structure for the magnets, but most any printer should handle them just fine without supports.  Print the main holder so the top surface is on your build plate.  The clips and endcaps can be printed flat as shown in the photos.

Installation

Line up your magnets so they aren't opposing each other.  Carefully slide them into the center cavity.  The bit holder holder uses a total of 4 magnets (see below for a link).  Then attach each endcap with an M3 wood screw (somewhere between 8mm and 15mm should work).  The attach the clip to your pegboard using automotive rivets and click the holder in place.

To remove the holder, just press in on the tabs while pushing up on the holder.

Tips and Tricks

If you're testing out an arrangement of holders, you can install the rivets, but remove the center pins.  This will allow you to loosely attach the holders and see how everything will fit before securing them to the pegboard.  Simply find the right spot, press the tabs on the arms and remove the holder, then add the pins and replace the holder.

Instead of using the pins that come with the push rivets, you can use a ¾" 8-32 (or M4 16mm) flat head machine screw (see the materials section below).  These screw and unscrew easily making it easier to relocate holders.

Materials

Below is a list of what you will need to assemble everything as intended.  Of course you can substitute what you want, but the list below is what worked for me.

  • Magnets - 60x5x10mm (varies by holder, but all magnetic holders use this same size)
  • Push Rivets - 15x12x6mm (two per clip)
  • M3 Screws (for attaching the endcaps)
  • 8-32 ¾" Flat Head Screw - (for securing the rivets in place of the center pin)

Design Notes

I really want to see what other holders people come up with!  The STEP files are included for both the clip and the ‘receiver’.  This is the mating part that all the holders have modeled into them.  The ‘receiver’ just needs a 27.5mm H x 75mm W x 7.5mm D pocket.  Just design a holder with that pocket and mate it with the receiver, so it works with all the clips.
