Description
WheelLED is a bike wheel lighting device designed by KitSprout. It consists of a full circle of LEDs which give a circular light projection. When riding the bike, a particular angle of LEDs will light up towards the road. There are more and more possible functions or usage in the future development.
Now we have designed Version 1 and 2. Both for 700C bike rim. We are looking forward to find a way designing mounting solutions for other sizes of bike rims.
Version 1 (Blue, Yellow PLA printed)
Mount mechanism: Interlocking
Drawback: Not easy to print. It need huge amount of supports, more time to print and more filaments consumption.
Version 2 (White PLA printed)
Mount mechanism: Clamping
Improvement: No support needed. Largely reduced filament consumption, quick printing time. Sided PCB attachment. Lighter weight of one wheel assembly.
There are 7 segments in one circle, and a controller is in the middle of the wheel, which addresses individual device segments for every LED's on/off command. As well as other RPM, temperature..etc sensor calculations.
This project is still in development.
