Description
This is a 3D-printable mount for an Orion Mini 50 mm Guide Scope http://www.telescope.com/Orion-Mini-50mm-Guide-Scope/p/99607.uts onto a standard camera mount. The design could be modified to piggy-back a small telescope onto a larger one, or to mount a small telescope onto a camera tripod etc.
The Guide Scope came with a standard dovetail mount, but I don't have a spare dovetail base on my main OTA, but I do have a standard camera mount for "piggy-backing" a DSLR camera or similar.
The STL file contains both parts as a single printable object, correctly oriented for proper printing.
The two halves clamp around the Guide Scope body (use a bit of felt or similar to prevent the guide scope body from getting scratched), and is clamped on with a pair of 3 mm bolts (or 1/8"). I have pressed in a threaded brass camera mount adapter (1/4-20 thread) salvaged from another camera mount and "welded" it in with a soldering iron to melt the surrounding plastic.
