Sometimes there's need for firm grip on tube or axle and using pliers or pipe/bench vise would make unwanted marks on the surface.
This simple tool helps in this kind of situation a lot. I have used aluminum blocks of this kind but they're much harder to make.
- Two M3 20mm countersunk flat head screws are used as locating pins
- Ream the mating pin holes with ø3mm drill bit if needed.
UPDATE: I made another jaws for 12-15-16-18-20mm tubes. Increased depth requires M3 25mm screws as locating pins.
There's dimensional drawings to help making customized versions. I'm not familiar with OpenSCAD programming.
