Snake with Trapped Hinges - Design Exercise

I wanted to investigate designing a shape in OpenSCAD that had trapped hinges like those used in LeFabShop's Elephant (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:257911).

This design uses a single part that may be rotated and translated to print a number of section. The OpenSCAD file has three sections.
