Version 2 is released!

• The profile of the interlocking surfaces has been improved to prevent the cleats from being pulled apart with tightly bound laces.
• Holes for the laces have been enlarged significantly. Thicker laces are thus supported. For regular/ thinner laces, use the cover strips (see next point) to reduce the hole diameter.
• Redesigned cover strips (previously known as color strips) now fit into position without the need for glue. The cover strips reduce the hole size to fit regular/ thinner laces. They also allow for a second color on the cleats for extended color matching.

Update 22 Dec 2015:

Added files of the color strips. Glue on the strips to make the cleats stronger and also print them in a second color that coordinates with the shoe color to get an even more stylish look. Print a total of 8 strips if gluing two strips onto both sides of every piece cleat. If gluing only one strip on each cleat (ie. total only 4 strips needed), be sure to check that the cleats are properly oriented such that the color strips will all end up facing upwards when the cleats are locked in pairs and attached to the shoe laces.

I tried the Klots and liked it for a while. But after some use, they can detach when I'm running for some distance. So I designed a different method of locking that will remain secure even during intense activities on my shoes.

They are designed to be printed with the long side vertical for maximum holding strength. No supports needed. I printed mine with the Micro 3D printer (M3D) without infill using PLA. If your printer gives poor quality prints like mine, the holes will need to be smoothed out to avoid any rough edges from slicing the shoe laces.
