Description
Here is the insertion plate (key) for European (EU) "SCHUKO" outlet with shuttered contacts. Such sockets usually colored in red. It's needed to push lever in special hole to open contacts. So, in general it's impossible to plug generic cord to such outlets. Also, as the plate with special pin (which is longer than 2 contact pins) is intended to be glued to a plug, such plugs impossible to use in generic outlets.
This differentiation is used to separate electric lines. Let say, we have one line with red outlets for computers, which is backed up through one large UPS. And another line for generic appliances, such as lamps, teapots and refrigerators. So, using this special outlets it's impossible to accidentally plug electric teapot into the line under UPS. And vice-versa.
BUT. In our office all sockets (red and non-red) are connected to same line. So, the need to have special keys to use some outlets have no sense. While using red outlets we did not glue keys to plugs, Key plates just permanently inserted into sockets. But from time to time these keys lost somehow. And at the end, almost half of outlets in our office are hard to use.
So, I drew the replacement.
Key plate with short pin can be just inserted into socket and leave there.
With long pin (as on original one) it can be glued to plug.
