Description

One day after a day of sailing, I couldn't find my truck keys, that I had put in the storage area in the bow. At first I thought I had lost them in the lake, but fortunately they had just bounced to a far corner of the bow. After that scare, I decided I needed a better place to store my valuables on the boat.

This cover replaces the stock cover for the storage port holes. Attached to the cover is a can that screws on. It's a good place to store keys, small parts, certificates, etc.

While I designed it for my boat, it may fit others. It's designed for a 5.1 inch diameter hole with trim about 6.5 inch diameter. My printer has a 6 inch limit so part of the trim is not covered, but it doesn't seem to be a problem since the hole is still plugged. (The Red one is the final model, the green one covered less area.)

I've included the SolidWorks files if anyone wants to modify it.

I have not performed a float test, or water proof test, but I'd guess this would float for quite a while if dropped in the lake.
