Description

This is a 7/16" thick gaming tile.

I provide it in two different scales. One is 2x2 inches exactly and the other is for OpenForge which is 50mm x 50mm -- which is a tad smaller than 2x2 -- 2x2 inches is 50.8mm x 50.8mm). Please download and print the appropriate file for your system. (I use 2x2 personally).

This is version 1.0 of the tile. It is use 12 copies of a single sculpted plank (which I did in Blender). I rotate the plank 180 degrees every other plank so it doesn't look too matchy. Ideally I'd have multiple sculpts of this plank for an even more natural look -- working on this for v1.1 -- coming soon.

Note: the photo I am sharing of it was printed at .2 layers. I suggest .1 layers if you don't mind the extra time.

Painting Tips:
Start with a base of "pure black" or a "warm black". The first two coats of this black base should be watered down so it falls all the way down between the cracks of each plank. Like the viscosity should be between normal paint and a wash. If any paint is pooling between the cracks, use a needed and/or stiff brush to sweep it out. The final coat of black would be thicker but don't work that into the cracks, and if you do, again sweep out with stiff brush.

Let that dry well.

Then do a heavy dry brush on of Burnt Umber (I used 2 oz. America $1). You should see the burnt umber but still see the black in the wood grain at this point.

Let that dry and then do a dry brush on of Terra Cotta (Americana) or an orangish brown. It should be bewteen the Burnt Umber and Cocoa (see below) in tone. I couldn't find Terra Cotta at the craft store the other day so I mixed my own mid town. I used 1 drop of burnt umber, 1 drop of cocoa and 1 drop of "burnt orange" ($1 as well).

Then finally do a super light dry dry brushing on of Americana Cocoa. ($1) -- Honey Brown also works well.

And that's it.

I got most of these painting tips from http://dmscraft.proboards.com/thread/2710/privy

I plan on using this tile in my modular dungeon system:
