Description

This is an upgrade to the M8 2mm pitch (4 starts) lead screw setup for my Folgertech 2020 Prusa i3 Printer, but it can be implemented to any printer that uses a standard brass T-nut and lead screw.

After a short time I realized my lead screw nuts were wearing out and had quite a bit of play in them, so I bought replacement. however, they were not much better, the machining and quality of these inexpensive lead screws and nuts are not the best. So I designed this simple anti-backlash setup. Backlash can greatly effect quality, especially under certain circumstances, Z retracts, Auto Bed Leveling, basically anything that moves Z up and down during a print. this setup has eliminated all backlash in my printer.

The setup is simply four lead screw nuts four long M3 screws and four springs. I believe the photos will explain the setup better than I can in text, just remember to leave some play in the longer screws, you DO NOT want those tight against the LS Nuts!!! but please feel free to comment with any questions you might have!?!?

I have added my M8 to M5 Lead Screw Nut adapter for those that want to use the standard FT M5 lead screws, just print four of them. I have not however tested this setup, so if you try it please let me know how it works out!?!?
