Description
For printing, glass is one of the best surface because it's extremely flat, and stays that way. I use Elmer's purple glue stick on the surface of the glass that allows just about any filament to stick to the print bed. You can remove the glass after a print is done and swap it out with another piece of glass while your ABS cools.
You do have to cut your glass when using these clips. I've used mirrored glass found at Home Depot that is 3mm thick. I've included a picture of the box of mirrored glass. It was $10 for the mirrored glass for 6 pieces of 12 inch x 12 inch of glass. It comes out to $1.75 per sheet.
I've designed these clips that fit on the corners of the print bed, extending it so that it holds cut piece of 180mm x 240mm plate glass. The edges of the clips are thin, so you can use small binder clips to hold the glass to the print bed. They extend beyond the print head so they will not interfere when printing.
Warning: Glass can Break, just a precaution.
I've included 2 sizes of clips. One for a CTC printer and the second is for a Wanhao print bed. I had to replace one of my heated print beds for my CTC with a Wanhao print bed. The 4mm are the CTC and the 5mm are the Wanhao print beds.
You can use your original nuts and bolts for these clips. You don't have to change any settings on your slicing software. You do have to re-level your print bed when adding glass to the print bed.
