Universal Charging Station-Quick Release

This is a Universal Charging Station with Quick Release feature (UCS-QR) for phones that have their charging port at the bottom. It was designed for phones that accept mini USB cables. It accepts a range of sizes and it is a charging station as well as a phone holder.

The reason I designed it is that I was not satisfied with the universal phone holders on the marker for the following reasons:

1. They are mounted on the windshield glass and in Canada’s cold winter the suction cups never worked.
2. They have flexible arms that shake when driving making a simple screen touch a difficult task and plugging the charging cable in an impossible task.
3. They have foam that either interferes with the buttons or blocks the mic and the speakers.

My UCS-QR eliminates all of that: no suction cups, no shake, no foam! Adjust the UCS-QR once to fit your phone, after that it’s easy to use: drop your phone in to hold it in place firmly, push it all the way down to charge it.

The UCS not only accepts different phone sizes but it can also be mounted on different surface shapes and directions. I designed it for cars but it can also be used on desks.

Quick Release feature: the quick release feature allows the user to quickly adjust the up-down angle and side-to-side rotation by loosing and tightening a knob. This is possible because the design has a ball head joint. Do NOT use lubricate/grease between the ball head and the socket; the joint needs friction to work.

Initial configuration of the UCS-QR to fit your phone:

1. Loosen the screws for the side, front, and back supports.
2. Slide the side, front, and back supports to their maximum positions.
3. Insert the mini USB cable in its place
4. Insert the phone into the USB port
5. Slide the side, front, and back supports until they are firm against the phone.
6. Remove the phone.
7. Tighten the screws for the side, front, and back supports.
