Description
This is a rocking extruder adapter for my G2S Universal Effector System. The inactive nozzle is lifted a few millimeters above the print to keep it out of the way.
Please note: This is for the Enlarged Effector only, it will not fit the smaller one.
Included are a full set of revised extruder adapters, all of which must now mount from the front (using 10mm screws). Unfortunately there will not be room for attached fans on the J-head rocker, you will have to use a single 40mm fan mounted on the spider (revised bracket included). The J-head adapter compensates for the slight (2 degree) tilt of the active nozzle, making it vertical again. (I have not encountered any problems caused by tilting of the nozzles, I removed the J-head tilt because it was practical to do so.)
Using Repetier Firmware, the servo is controlled via "M340" gcode commands:
M340 P1 S2500 ; select left extruder M340 P1 S500 ; select right extruder
My MKS-GEN controller has built-in servo ports. See the description of my servo-controlled carriage clip for information about converting unused inputs on the GT2560 for use as servo control ports.
You will need some additional hardware to complete assembly:
1 generic 9g servo
1 625ZZ ball bearing, 16 x 5 x 5mm
1 M5 x 12mm screw
2 M5 flat washers
1 M5 hex nut
2 M4 x 8mm set screws
6 M3 x 10mm screws
4 M3 hex nuts
2 M3 lock nuts (nylon collar)
The J-head adapter also uses M3 x 16mm screws and M3 hex nuts, 2 of each.
Update: Changed to mount the rocker bearing from the rear, so set screws are no longer the only thing holding the bearing in place. As a result, you will need to add a couple of M5 flat washers to fill the gap at the face of the bearing, and use a slightly longer M5x12mm screw.
