Seed starting rig made from PVC pipe

Short of avoiding politely being asked to leave the neighborhood for the place looking abandoned I don't have a lot of interest in planting or tending things I can't eat. My lot has huge trees (they're awesome and protect the house from the summer heat) so lots of shade and all kinds of woodland creatures who will poach your harvest without apology or at least saying thanks. Good place, but not ideal for a summer garden.

After many years of hard work with little return I found that Earthboxes on the upper deck were the better bet. About ten years ago I ditched the nurseries for the most part and began starting from seed because you can get seeds for just about anything online and the local heirloom varieties were hardier, tasted and yielded better than the hybrids. It's also nice to know where what you're eating came from and what exactly is in it.

Each year the system gets a little bigger and more elaborate. This season I used some of DonaldJ's PVC pipe construction set parts along with some of my own to build a more flexible and easily stored support for the Black Dog LED grow light. Eventually the same parts in a different configuration will make a winter indoor hydroponics setup.

The construction set looked like a brilliant idea so I just had to try it with a project. Done in one for this job.
