Description

This is a lever extension for the Printrbot Metal Plus, single-extruder model 1412. This is for the Version 1 extruder, not Version 2. It's roughly based on the design for the Printrbot Simple lever by SlovenskaPosta. The Metal Plus has limited space between the print head lever and the side z-axis rods. It also has a hex bolt-head between the extruder motor and the existing lever, so I had to recreate the 3D model with the sizes adjusted. I also included more brace material under the finger pressure point, since printing this object vertically could lead to de-lamination of the end of the lever without the extra. It would also be best to print at 100% infill, to maximize the amount of plastic and strengthen the piece.

It should print without any support material. I was able to print several design iterations without issue. The tops of the holes might have slight drooping based on your printer's ability to bridge small gaps, but it should be minimal and can be cleared out with a knife blade or blunt object to push through.

To install, remove the tension screw and spring from the existing lever, then slide the printed piece over top. Push it tight against the right end of the lever so that the holes line back up with those in the metal. Re-insert the spring and tension screw and tighten back to the amount needed for your filament.

The model was created in the free version of 123D Design. I've included the model file for anyone that would like to make modifications.
